um… what happened to autumn?

yesterday i was wearing shorts

tonight i wore full long sleeve tight pants and shirt with full finger gloves

still my toes and fingers froze

cold toes and fingers are the worst

i have finger booties from last year

but need to go buy booties for my shoes

imagine big socks you put over your shoes to keep your toes from the wind chill

it looks funny, but it helps big time

its not even october yet and i’m looking for booties, geez

minus my thickest cycling jacket, hoodies and finger/toe booties,

i’m already wearing my full winter gear

before october!

and just last weekend i was wearing shorts and shirts and sweating like a pig

-

hope this isn’t a sign of what’s to come for this winter…

got to get some new tires

my old tires died on me after a year of use

so currently using the tires that came with my bike when i bought it

was fine for the past month

but have not yet rode them in the rain

until tonight

dry all night

then it started trickling

then pouring

charles still climbing

trying to go up namsan a second time

yet the tires are not grabbing the road anymore

each pedal stroke, the tires keep slipping

just stopped on my way up

turned around and went home

last thing i want is trying to brake downhill with these tires and it slips

head, say hello to pavement

so turned in early

first time i can remember just turning in like this during my ride..

disgusted

got some late night grub on the way home

need to find some good tires

good equipment so hard to find in korea

now full

happy

ate a big breakfast

mom’s inviting some guests to the house for dinner

so helped her prepare a bit

all done and only 11:00am

flight back to seoul at 5:50pm

had just enough time to climb halla mountain again

and be back to shower, eat, and pack

so showered, got dressed, and hurried myself out

what a day

clear, bright

perfect conditions

came in around 20 minutes faster than just about the same route three days ago

very happy with the progress

and learning that a full day of rest does make a huge difference

-

now back home

ate a big dinner

rest tonight

long day at work tomorrow

and hopefully some riding afterwards too

need to break out the fall/winter gear

its cold at night now

-

100,000 calories dood

how many pizzas does that make?

yum… hehe

need to work on that average speed

but considering it includes all the in city riding too

not so bad for a start

lets see how that improves six months from now

the computer stopped working for a few km

so i think the total is about 85km

the wind

the awful wind

blew against me at every turn

so strong it blew my bike to a literal stop half way up  a climb

i think 80km is the limit for me

body starts hurting

skin starts chafing

especially in the groin area ouch..

i don’t know how people can ride 200+ km at a time

-

trying not to think

trying to have some silence

just pedaling

not doing so well

mind a mess

good ride

cried (really) from the pain at the beginning

as soon as the climb started

the pain started

and the tears ran, haha

from remembering how difficult it was the last time

but guess what?

it was hard, no doubt

but when i got to the top, i was left wondering

dood… i thought it was alot longer

and tougher..

haha

felt good

hard ride,

but i definitely had energy left over

and it was only half as long as it was the first time up

the benefits of consistent training i guess

really needed the punishment too

am really stressed out and down

will shoot for 100k tomorrow

as long as it doesn’t rain

i hear seoul is knee deep in water, literally
